This past Friday Kusamala staff and family members participated in the second of six full day trainings aimed at providing them with a thorough understanding or permaculture practices and principles. The trainings will help staff and their families develop and implement household permaculture gardens that will improve household nutrition, increase diet diversification, and act as a demonstration within their communities.
The second day of training addressed water management and an introduction to zone one intensive vegetable production. The participants spent the morning in the classroom learning about the theory behind the practices and the afternoon out in the garden getting some hands on experience.
So far the feedback from the staff has been very positive and some have even started preparing the soil around their homes for planting. It’s a bit ahead of our planned implementation schedule but we are excited to see the enthusiasm for this project!
